CONDOLENCE MESSAGE: MAXWELL SIBANDA

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE: MAXWELL SIBANDA

The Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC), Professor Ruby Magosvongwe, Commissioners and staff have learnt with sadness on the passing on of Mr Maxwell Sibanda.

Maxwell Sibanda was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1968.

The Veteran journalist and Daily News Assistant Editor passed away on the 22nd February 2021 at a local hospital in Harare after a short illness.

Mr Sibanda will be remembered for his love and passion for the arts and culture industries.  His news pieces raised a lot of critical issues regarding the arts sector. His views and critiques were necessary in building the arts and culture sector which today has opened a number of opportunities for our arts practitioners.

It is quite disturbing that the media sector continues to lose prominent journalists who are supposed to be mentors of the upcoming generations in the newsrooms. His death has robbed the media fraternity of a talented and great mentor. He will be sadly missed by many.

The Sibanda and Daily News families should take solace in that the media fraternity is morning with them.

May his soul rest in peace.
